Walnut Sesame Porridge
Walnuts nourish the kidney and strengthen the brain; black sesame nourishes liver and kidney, blackens hair, and moistens dryness. This porridge is a classic TCM tonic, especially for mental overwork and kidney-liver deficiency.
Ingredients
- Walnut kernels, 30g
- Black sesame seeds, 20g
- Rice, 80-100g
- Rock sugar, to taste (optional)
Preparation
- Break walnut kernels into small pieces
- Lightly toast black sesame (optional, aids digestion)
- Rinse rice, add with walnuts and sesame to pot
- Add about 800ml water, bring to boil, then simmer
- Cook until porridge is thick (30-40 minutes)
- Add rock sugar to taste if desired
